One of the first, early successful board game cafe's in North America is Snakes and Lattes, in Toronto, Canada. We have been constantly impressed with the success they have had with expanding the scope of game playing to new audiences. They were the first to coin the term "Breadstick Games," as in, those short games you can enjoy without too much stress as an appetizer as you are waiting for your meal, or, a heavier gaming experience. The bulk of these games can be learned quickly even for people who have never picked up a deck of cards, and these games will be our first recommendations if you are new to Boards and Bites.

OUR FAVORITES

Sushi Go - You are at your local Japanese restaurant trying to put together the best meal in this card drafting game. Each player chooses one card from their hand, and passes the rest of their cards to their neighbor in this card drafting game. 15 minutes, 2-5 players.

Animals on Board - You are collecting sets of animals to get onto your ark before a bit of heavy rain comes in. Choose sets of animals you want, or divide remaining ones into groups. But don't leave pairs, as this Noah guy seems to be collecting them for his own purpose. 15-30 minutes, 2-4 players.

Red7 - This has the feel of a classic card game where you play a card each round in an attempt to beat your opponents. The trick, though, is that if you don't end your turn in the lead OR change the rules of the game so that you will be winning, you're out! 5-30 minutes, 2-4 players.
